Hi, I'm Stephen Taft

I’m Stephen Taft, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist serving individuals and couples in Sacramento and surrounding areas, via telehealth in both California and Washington State.

I became a therapist because I believe everyone has the capacity to create real, meaningful change in their life and that finding the right support at the right time can make all the difference. Whether you’re struggling in your relationship, feeling anxious about the future, navigating a major life transition, or just feeling stuck, I’m here to help you build on your own strengths and create a life that feels fuller and more grounded.

I work with adults 18 and older, couples at every stage, and people from all walks of life. I’m an LGBTQ+ ally and welcome clients of all spiritual backgrounds and belief systems.

assessment

We start by getting to know you,  your history, your goals, and what’s brought you to therapy. There’s no pressure to have it all figured out.

goals

Together, we identify what matters most to you and map out what meaningful progress looks like, on your terms, at your pace.

03. Active
therapy

Using evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs, we work through the patterns, thoughts, and dynamics holding you back.

04. Ongoing Evaluation

Therapy is a living process. We regularly check in on what’s working, adjust our approach, and celebrate your growth along the way.

How I Work

My therapeutic style is engaging, warm, supportive, practical and intuitive. I am an LGBT ally and work well with people from all spiritual belief systems.

Helping people improve their relationships, manage stress, adjust to changes in life and reduce anxiety and depression are primary focuses of my practice. My hope is that we may work together to learn and practice new tools that will support you achieving your personal goals. I have been helping people from all walks of life for more than 10 years and look forward to learning about your life experiences.

Utilizing interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused, Mindfulness (EFT), Solution-Focused, Problem Solving, Compassion Focused, Narrative and Motivational Therapy, we can work together to develop strategies for you to improve your ability to create the changes in your life that you crave.
